Hello, and welcome to our blog! We are Scott and Shelley Jacobs, and we have four beautiful children: Macey, Heidi, Ryan, and Jenna. Our sweet Heidi was diagnosed with autism, and we are currently trying to get her an autism service dog. The purpose of this blog is to keep our amazing supporters updated on our progress and any upcoming fundraisers.
We are working with Arizona Goldens, an organization here in AZ that trains and places autism service dogs.

How would an autism service dog benefit Heidi?
They reduce the stress and anxiety of everyone in the household, thus reducing problem behaviors such as tantrums or meltdowns.
They interrupt self-injurious behaviors.
They facilitate and encourage communication.
They teach the child with autism how to build relationships.
They teach language and life skills.
They teach the child to learn to think of another person’s or animal’s needs.
They allow the child to remain calm and grounded in new or stressful situations.
They assist adults in locating where the child has gone.
They help the child sleep through the night.
They provide physical interaction and exercise.
They provide a neutral third party and a friend in the child’s life.
